NEARBY PARADISE | AEOLIAN ISLANDS

Hi guys, I know a lot of time has passed by the last post, but I have been very busy.

The summer is approaching and it seems to me the most proper moment to speak of where I spend every year my summer.

I know that someone of you will already be thinking how much boredom is spend every summer in a same place, but when you're in love with a place you cannot make to less than visit it, skipping the fact that my father was born in this amazing place.
As you will have read from the title, we will speak of the Aeolian Islands, an archipelago to north of Sicily.
In this post I will speak about 6 things to do in this beautiful place before died!

1. BOAT TRIP TO STROMBOLI

Stromboli is mysteriously fascinating, is the island known for being the lighthouse of the Mediterranean and also is known for give some days splendid eruptions, from the aeolian's inhabitants it is call 'IDDU'. Stromboli is also known for the black sand, the uncontaminated nature, the blue sea, Dolce&Gabbana's house and for a rock of average dimension called 'Strombolicchio''.
I think that Stromboli is one of my favorite islands of the archipelago, somehow this island removes the breath, I honestly believes that when you arrive in this island  you find in front of your eyes the majesty and the strength of the nature. When you visit this island you must take a boat for see the volcanic material in the back of the island, and if you are brave you can do some diving to admire the vastness of fish.

2. HAVE A SUNSET DRINK IN MARINA CORTA

This is the place to go to for a sunset drink! The view is absolutely stunning.
You will be able, in fact, to admire one of the most beautiful and romantic zones of the island of Lipari.

Besides the view of the sea, you can see the famous strong fortress of Greek origin that almost seems to be suspended in the nothing and the small but splendid church; this place is one of the most fascinating plazas of the Aeolian, of irregular form rich of café and restaurants. In the many cafes, besides the amazing view, you can enjoy cocktails, and some very tasty snacks!

It is usually quite busy but you should still score a seat – definitely the place to go and watch the sun come down in the Aeolian Islands!

3. HAVE A GRANITA IN LINGUA

Lingua is a tiny town on the island of Salina. There is a bus that goes around the island and leaves once an hour so we hopped on this for the scenic 30 minute trip to Lingua. I have to say there isn’t a lot in Lingua – a cute little waterfront that is worth a stroll.
But what makes popular Lingua are the granite, Alfredo's granite.
You can find many tastes from simple to the most unique and strange; these magnificent granite are accompanied by a brioche, so soft that melts in your mouth. There is something rather odd fact about the brioche, in fact according to the islanders, a man of the island is recognized if he eats before the best part of this sweet known as "bombolone - doughnut", before someone steal it!

4. OPENCAST SPA IN VULCANO

Vulcano is a island very beautiful to be visited, both away earth that from the sea, renting a small boat for do the turn of the island. Just arrived on the island you will be amazed by the smell of sulfur which commits all the air. Vulcano could be nicknamed the island of welfare; it offers many possibilities for those who love body care. In the heart of the island you can find the Oasis of health, a large fleet of geothermal pools and whirlpools. The Oasis of health is also a spa specializing in a wide range of massages all for you!
But what gives fame to Vulcano's island are the mud baths; mud trees located near the port. People immerse themselves in order to draw benefits for the skin and the body, in fact can generally improve simple respiratory disorders. There are three types of Vulcano's muds, we find the Puddle of mud where the waters are very concentrated of sulfur and mud clay. Then we have the Warm sea, that is another point where you can reap the benefits of the thermal waters, just entered in the water seems to be in a hot tub; finally a little further, you can practice inhalations at the Fumaroles.
But if you are feeling more classic you can experience the magnificent five star hotel TherasiaResort, a beautiful resort with an amazing sea view.

5. VISIT THE LITTLE "MARIA SANTISSIMA DELLA CATENA'S" CHURCH IN QUATTROPANI

Along the streets of Quattropani, we can admire this old church, a Lipari's sanctuary.
This small church is worth a visit because, blue sky, sea and it's candid color give a sense of peace and tranquility.
You can get to this church directly from the Lipari's port by taking a bus, and then have to do a piece on foot through a fragrant countryside rich in colors. The view is nothing short of breathtaking you will feel so small in front of the majesty of the sea and the view of Salina and other islands!

6. POLLARA, TREASURE CHEST OF
MEMORIES AND SCENTS

At the northwestern end of the island of Salina, there's a beach protected by steep cliffs, is Pollara's beach; a strip of land made of stones and gravel which is considered the most beautiful beach on Salina's island.

This magnificent beach can be reached by sea or by a rugged trail, personally I consider this place the best place to watch the sunset, where the sun takes on the color red fire and set next to the islands of Filicudi e Alicudi.
Pollara is also know because it's very close to a beach know as the Balate's beach; where were filmed some scenes of the famous movie "Il postino" with Massimo Troisi, infact in this beach we can sea the house used for the film.
Another show unparalleled is the Perciato's arc, a natural and suggestive rock.
